Brazil holds a unique position in the global climate landscape. With one of the world’s cleanest energy matrices, vast natural capital, and a growing ecosystem of climate innovators, the country is already developing mitigation and adaptation solutions. Yet its role and potential remain under-recognized in global climate strategies.
This report, commissioned by Instituto Clima e Sociedade (iCS) and developed by Dalberg, highlights where Brazil’s comparative advantages align with some of the world’s most urgent climate challenges. It highlights solutions already demonstrating tangible results across Brazil’s key areas of climate leadership: industrial decarbonization through next-generation biofuels, sustainable mining, and green hydrogen; regenerative food and land-use transitions; and nature-based resilience models that link climate, ecosystems, and health. Brazil’s climate finance ecosystem is also evolving to support these models, with blended finance instruments, national investment platforms, and collaborative capital structures that are turning promising initiatives into scalable pipelines.
The report is designed to guide funders, investors, and philanthropic partners seeking practical entry points to engage. It outlines where collaboration and capital can accelerate climate progress in Brazil while generating benefits that extend far beyond its borders.
