As inequality, climate risks, and social polarization continue to deepen, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) are calling for philanthropy to evolve and rise to the challenge.
The region needs sustained social investment that goes beyond short-term charity and isolated efforts. A new study developed by Dalberg and The Resource Foundation with the support of The Rockefeller Foundation presents a collective call to action for the region’s philanthropic community. The report, ‘Five Agendas to Transform Philanthropy in Latin America and the Caribbean,’ reflects insights from over 70 leaders across the region’s diverse philanthropic landscape.
It identifies five interconnected agendas that can help guide this transformation:
1. Collaborate for real – embracing radical, trust-based collaboration
2. Mobilize more capital – activating local and global wealth for impact
3. Finance better – structuring resources for long-term change
4. Localize philanthropy – empowering communities as co-creators
5. Raise the standard – investing in the sector’s own capacity and infrastructure
Every actor—from families and foundations to companies and community leaders—has a role to play in building a philanthropic ecosystem that is more strategic, inclusive, and capable of shaping lasting change across the region.
