South Asia is home to extraordinary cultural wealth: from centuries-old craft and handloom to cinema, festivals, design and new forms of digital storytelling. Yet much of this creativity sits outside the formal economy, even as countries such as Korea and Japan demonstrate the soft power of culture and how craft can be an economic engine.

In this episode, we look at how the creative industries can create jobs and sustain livelihoods, how independent cinema can reach global audiences and the kind of patronage we need to support arts institutions. Above all, we ask whether we value our craft industries enough to support them in realizing their tremendous potential.
