Nick Whalley is an Associate Partner and Co-lead of Dalberg’s Finance and Investment practice based in London, where he has provided advisory support to multilateral development banks, DFIs, private impact investors, corporates, foundations, and NGOs.

Nick’s work covers a wide range of functional areas, including strategy, impact investing, innovative finance, and transaction advisory support, and sectors, including notably financial inclusion, agriculture and agri-finance, and digital public infrastructure. Recent projects include supporting the Gates Foundation and AfricaNenda in a series of engagements to drive the adoption and use of Inclusive Instant Payments Systems (IIPS) in Africa, supporting the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Indonesia in driving financial sector deepening in Indonesia, providing strategic support for two European DFIs looking to enhance their pre-investment “market shaping” offerings, conducting commercial due diligences for several impact focused PE firms, supporting the African Development Bank in preparing for its recent Feed Africa Summit in Dakar, and partnering with the UK Impact Investing Institute to identify promising case studies in impact investing in the Global South.

Prior to Dalberg, Nick worked at LEK Consulting, where he provided strategic and transaction advisory support to Fortune 500 companies and PE firms across a number of sectors, including industrials, digital financial services, and consumer goods.  Nick also served as an investment advisor to institutional investors and family offices at Cambridge Associates, an investment consulting firm, and worked directly in both microfinance and social impact bonds with Kiva (a peer-to-peer lending platform) and Social Finance (and SIB origination organization), respectively.

Nick has extensive experience working across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, having completed projects in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Liberia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, the Philippines, and Bangladesh, among others. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from Wesleyan University.
